The Asian Resource Gallery was established in 1985 to celebrate and promote the rich diversity of the Pan-Asian and broader communities served by EBALDC and the organizations housed within the Asian Resource Center. The Gallery is an integral part of EBALDC’s efforts to creatively build cultural bridges between communities, and to support the arts to enrich people’s lives.

The themes and works of presenting artists hope to encourage discourse about the content and function of art and culture and particularly their relevance to grassroots communities. As a result, some of the works exhibited address issues of race relations, colonialism, war and the urban experience and are sometimes seen as provocative and controversal.

EBALDC and the gallery have the conviction and commitment to utilize the arts as a viable and alterative strategy to build unity through knowledge. Our belief is that cultural expression is a critical vehicle and a common language which can bridge the separated ethnic groups to become more self-sufficient and cooperative.
