ASIAN/PACIFIC ISLANDER YOUTH PROMOTIONG AVOCACY & LEADERSHIP
Asian youth address the pervasive violence and hardships of growing up in Oakland and attempt to identify the root causes of the conflict in our neighborhoods and schools. AYPAL has led extensive conversations with youth on domestic poverty, racism and sexism, along with foreign policy, immigration and war and how these issues perilously impact on their everyday lives. The results of these talks are expressed in this photographic exhibit by the young participants of AYPAL programs around the city. It is the continuation of a critical cultural dialogue in critical times.
