MONGOLIA - Steppes of Change

Photojournalist Karna Kurata, a fourth generation Japanese American, spent several months over a stretch of years docmenting life in the captital and rural outskirts of Mongolia, The Asian Resource Gallery in Oakland Chinatown presents a triad of these contemporary Mongolian stories with Kurata’s photos of a nomadic family; coal miners in a frigid rural landscape; homeless youth surviving in a subterranean habitat.
The dynamic exhibit of black & white images will be on display from April thru the end of May at the Asian Resource Gallery, located at 310 Eighth Street/ Harrison Street. The gallery is open Monday thru Friday, 9am – 6pm.
